Every candidate to Pallottine way of life is God’s gift to the Society of the Catholic Apostolate. Having accepted this gift, it is absolutely necessary to nurture it, and that happens in the Novitiate, known as the Preparatory Period. This is why, Pallotti called the Novitiate, Bethlehem, the house of bread. It is the period of introducing the candidate to the true Christian discipleship, and so, central to the entire Pallottine formation and life.
Pallottines in India were privileged to have had their Preparatory Formation at Pallotti Nilaya, Bangalore since 1973. Then the Novitiate got shifted to Chandor, Goa in 2011, where, after the transformation of the ABVM Province in 2020, the novices of the OLGH Province continued their Preparatory Formation. But, since every Province should have their own house for Novitiate as it involves integrating the students with the Province and the Society, we began the Novitiate in the facilities available at Kaliyal Estate in the first week of August 2021. There are five novices this scholastic year.
